Prysmian to make cables for Italy-Tunisia interconnector in Naples factory
MILAN, June 22 (Reuters) - Italy's Prysmian will manufacture in its plant near Naples the cables for a contract it won for the submarine power interconnection between Italy and Tunisia, the company said on Monday.
Prysmian said Italian transmission group Terna and Tunisian electricity grid and gas operator STEG had sent it the notice to proceed with the construction of the interconnector, called the ELMED Project.
• The contract, worth about €460 million ($526 million) was awarded to Prysmian in September last year.
• Prysmian said the value of the contract would now be included in its backlog of projects.
• Cables will be built at Prysmian's submarine cable factory in Arco Felice.
