Fewer Swedes want to join euro, poll shows
STOCKHOLM, June 10 (Reuters) - Support in Sweden for adopting the euro has declined over the past year, while a majority of Swedes opposes joining the currency used by a majority of European Union nations, a national statistics office poll showed on Wednesday.
Statistics Sweden said in a statement that 28.7% of polled Swedes were in favour of dropping the country's crown currency in favour of the euro, against 32.0% in its year-ago survey.
It said 52.1% were opposed to joining the euro zone, up from 49.5% in 2025.
Swedes in 2003 in a non-binding referendum voted no to joining the European Monetary Union.
In January this year, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's right-wing Moderates party said it would appoint a commission to weigh the pros and cons of joining the euro should it remain in power after a general election in September.
