LINK acquires Romanian company Web2SMS
11 Mar 2026 08:00 CET
Issuer
Link Mobility Group Holding
The acquisition expands LINK’s geographical reach in Europe and unlocks
opportunities for market expansion in Romania, where Web2SMS has a significant
market share.
Web2SMS is a Romanian communication and marketing platform designed to help
businesses enhance their client relationships through efficient SMS strategies.
Originally established in 2004 by founders Antonio Eram and Felix Crișan,
Web2SMS is a Romanian leading A2P SMS provider, currently ranking as the largest
player in the country by volume. Web2SMS delivers a high volume of SMS messages
across Romania, maintaining direct connections with all major Mobile operators
to ensure secure message delivery. The acquisition brings LINKS market share in
Romania to ca. 20%.
Web2SMS is part of NETOPIA Group, a pioneer in the Romanian tech space
leveraging over two decades of expertise to deliver seamless, integrated
solutions across online payments and mobile communication. In 2023, the majority
stake in NETOPIA Group was acquired by Innova Capital, a leading private equity
firm in Central and Eastern Europe.
“This acquisition marks an important step in our growth strategy in Romania,
strengthening our local presence and enabling us to deliver even greater value
and innovation to our customers across the region”, says Thomas Berge, CEO of
LINK.
“Over the past two decades, we have built a trusted messaging platform in
Romania. Joining a leading European CPaaS organization provides the scale and
resources needed to take this business to the next stage of development, to
expand its capabilities and pursue new milestones within the enterprise
communications sector. This marks a very important step for NETOPIA Group to
strengthen the focus on our payments services.", says Antonio Eram, founder of
Web2SMS.
The transaction is expected to close in Q2 2026, subject to regulatory approvals
and customary closing conditions.
The transaction values Web2SMS at an enterprise value of EUR 4.0 million,
implying an LTM EV/adj.EBITDA multiple of 5.8x. The purchase price will be
settled fully in cash.
