NEXT Biometrics secures first order for its biometric reader for Government ID use cases in Malaysia

Oslo, 19 February 2026 - NEXT Biometrics, the world leader in advanced
high-security fingerprint sensor technology, has secured its initial order in
Malaysia for its biometric reader, Oyster III. The reader will be used in
Malaysia Government Departments for various identity verification purposes.

This is a new design win for NEXT with deliveries schedule to start shipping in
Q1 2026.

NEXT’s Active Thermal® technology uses both heat from the finger and 3D imaging
to authenticate the user. This enables superior authentication speed and
liveness detection to combat spoofing attacks, when compared with other
fingerprint authentication technologies. The product also minimizes energy
consumption and delivers exceptional performance in varying light and
