Decision in Tax Case Regarding Financial Instruments
18 Dec 2025 20:22 CET
Issuer
Kommunalbanken AS
On 18 December 2025, the Tax Appeals Committee granted Kommunalbanken a
favourable decision in a tax appeal concerning financial instruments.
Kommunalbanken have previously received decisions to amend tax assessments for
the income years 2014–2021. These changes related to the timing and treatment of
financial instruments for tax purposes, and parts of the decisions were
appealed.
The favourable decision means that previously taxable income will be classified
as debt, resulting in an overall reduction in taxable income for prior years. As
a consequence, Kommunalbanken will receive a refund of previously overpaid taxes
amounting to 1 billion NOK, along with interest compensation. The deferred tax
asset on the balance sheet will be reduced by 1 billion NOK. The accounting
effects will be recognised in the Bank’s financial statements for 2025.
