HAV Group ASA: Subsidiary secures wellboat deliveries

15 October 2025 – HAV Group’s business for energy design and smart control
systems has been awarded a contract to act as system integrator and deliver
power and automation systems to a newbuild live fish carrier that shipbuilder
Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted is constructing for North Salmon Service.
In addition to its key role as system integrator, HAV Group’s subsidiary will
deliver motors – including propulsion and bow thrusters – generators,
transformers, AC/DC switchboards, a battery pack and a charging solution. It
will also provide an integrated automation system (IAS) and power management
system (PMS).
The system and equipment deliveries are planned for the second half of 2026 and
the first half of 2027.
“We’re happy to see activity picking up in the aquaculture segment after a quiet
period following the 2023 tax changes. This contract follows a constructive
dialogue with both the owner and the yard, reflecting a shared focus on vessel
performance and long-term value. We look forward to continuing the collaboration
with both Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted and North Salmon Service”, says Siv
Remøy-Vangen, Managing Director of NES.
On 1st July this year, HAV Group announced that its ship design business had
been contracted to design the live fish carrier, which has a fish well capacity
of 5,000 cubic metres. The HAV 595 design supports a wide range of live fish
operations, including transport and sorting. It offers greater operational
capacity than current industry standards and sets new benchmarks in biosecurity,
fish welfare, cost-efficiency, and environmental performance. The shipowner is
Norwegian aquaculture logistics operator North Salmon Service.
“It is great news that not only one but two of our businesses have secured
involvement in developing and delivering this newbuild live fish carrier. This
underlines our competitiveness in this sector, and we are aiming to build on
this in the years ahead,” says Gunnar Larsen, CEO of HAV Group.
