HAV Group ASA: Subsidiary chosen to equip newbuild ferry

11 September 2025 – Tersan Shipyard has contracted HAV Group’s energy design and
smart control systems business to act as system integrator and deliver power and
automation systems for a newbuild ferry that the Turkish shipyard is
constructing for an undisclosed shipowner.
In addition to its role as system integrator, the subsidiary’s scope of supply
includes the complete power system including motors, generators, transformers,
AC/DC switchboards and a battery pack. NES will also deliver a charging plug
that connects the vessel to onshore charging stations, plus an integrated
automation system to the vessel.
The majority of the equipment deliveries will be made during 2026. The contract
is valued in excess of EUR 7 million.
On 30 April this year, HAV Group announced that Tersan Shipyard in Turkey had
contracted the Norway-based supplier to act as system integrator and deliver
power and automation systems for two vessels. This latest ferry – NB 1137 – is a
copy of the two vessel projects announced in April, but with slightly adjusted
scope.
“Winning our third contract with Tersan Shipyard in less than five months is an
achievement that we are proud of. There are obvious synergy effects between the
two previously announced newbuild projects and the contract we announce today.
We will capitalise on these to reduce project execution risk for Tersan
Shipyard, the shipowner, and us,” says Remøy-Vangen, managing director of HAV
Group’s energy design and smart control systems business.
HAV Group’s contract party is Norwegian Electric Systems AS (NES).
“The global electric ferry market is expanding rapidly, with Europe being the
frontrunner. We are delighted to win another contract in our home market. NES’
track record in winning and delivering power and automation systems to ferries
is growing rapidly, which gives the company a competitive advantage versus other
suppliers,” says Gunnar Larsen, CEO of HAV Group ASA.
