AF Bygg Väst, a part of AF Gruppen Sweden, has been commissioned by the Port of
Gothenburg to construct a new power station in Skandiahamnen, Gothenburg. The
contract is a turnkey project with a contract value of SEK 129 million excluding
VAT.
The project is part of the Port of Gothenburg’s preparations for the upcoming
legal requirement for onshore power supply (OPS) to vessels in the Container,
RoPax, and Cruise segments, which will come into effect in 2030.
The facility will enable future power supply to berths in Skandiahamnen and is a
key measure in the port’s efforts to reduce emissions from shipping. The
contract includes the construction of a power station with an incoming
electricity capacity of 19 MVA.
“We are pleased to have been entrusted with contributing to a more sustainable
port operation and look forward to initiating our first collaboration with the
Port of Gothenburg,” says Bård Frydenlund, EVP Sweden at AF Gruppen.
The project will commence in the second quarter of 2025, with completion planned
for March 2027.
