In March, 4.2 million travelers used Avinor's airports. This is an increase of
seven percent compared to March 2024.

Overall, across all Avinor airports, there was a ten percent increase in
domestic travelers and a two percent increase in international travelers, though
there are large differences between the airports.

Easter in April Affects March Figures
“This year, Easter falls in April, whereas it was in March last year. This
affects the passenger numbers for March,” says Gaute Skallerud Riise, Director
of Traffic Development at Avinor.

“Easter traffic typically features a weak domestic market and a correspondingly
strong international market. This explains the strong growth we’re seeing in
domestic travel this March—up a full 10%,” Riise says.

“At the same time, we’re seeing slower growth in international traffic compared
to recent months, but if we take the Easter effect into account, there is still
underlying solid growth in international traffic in March as well,” he adds.

So far this year, the number of international travelers is seven percent higher
than in the same period in 2024, even though Easter is not part of the first
quarter this year.

More Air Freight and Better Capacity Utilization
Cargo volume continues to remain at a high level, with a 20% increase in March.
Airborne imports are increasing, and available capacity on scheduled flights is
being used more efficiently than in previous years.

“Freight is an important factor in developing the route network at Oslo Airport.
We’re seeing the airport being increasingly used as a hub for the freight
market, which helps strengthen route development through improved profitability
for airlines,” concludes Riise.

Increase in Commercial Flight Movements
There were 53,029 commercial flight movements in March, an eight percent
increase compared to March 2024.

Smaller Airports Still Seeing the Highest Growth
Looking at the major airports—Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, and Stavanger (DSL)—there
are more travelers in March, with Trondheim Airport, Værnes, showing the highest
growth. Tromsø Airport continues to see increasing traveler numbers, with a full
18 percent increase in March compared to last year. The regional airports (DRL)
saw a total increase of 12 percent in March.

More Drone Flights
In March, 2,279 drone flight plans were submitted, meaning flights registered in
Ninox Drone. “This is an increase of about 31 percent compared to March 2024,”
says Mats Gjertsen, who leads Avinor’s drone program.
