Veidekke: New City Hall in Holmestrand

Veidekke ASA
It is finally clear that Veidekke can start building a new environmentally
certified city hall in Holmestrand. The assignment for Bane NOR Eiendom is a
turnkey contract worth 160 million NOK excluding VAT.
"We have patiently waited for all aspects of the project to be clarified, so now
we are very excited that we can start the construction. The city hall will
provide better services to the municipality, residents, and visitors, and the
project will employ more than 70 of our own employees at the busiest times plus
many local partners," says District Manager Lars N. Hjertås of Veidekke Bygg
Vestfold and Telemark.
The new city hall will have a central location by the train station and is the
first piece in a larger long-term development of the area. The 5,950 m² building
over four floors is developed according to the environmental standard BREEAM-NOR
Very Good with energy class A. Environmentally friendly and sustainable choices
have been made to ensure good use of space, smart energy solutions, and
facilitation for reuse so that as little as possible needs to be discarded or
replaced if there are changes in the use of the building in the future.
The design work is well underway and construction work is scheduled to start
early in March with planned handover in the fall of 2026. The contract is
included in Veidekke's order book for the first quarter of 2025.
