Multiconsult ASA (Oslo: Multi)
Multiconsult Norge AS has been awarded a contract by Aker Solutions to provide
key civil engineering expertise for Hafslund Celsio's carbon capture and storage
(CCS) solution at the waste-to-energy plant in Oslo, Norway. Multiconsult will
provide qualified personnel on a hire-in basis to work as an integral part of
Aker Solutions' project team, representing the civil discipline.
On the 27 January 2025 Aker Solution and SLB Capturi were awarded a contract for
the carbon capture and storage solution at Hafslund Celsio's waste-to-energy
plant. This contract will deliver a carbon capture plant, a liquefaction system,
temporary storage, and loading facility at the waste incineration site. The
contract also includes an intermediate CO2 storage and ship loading system at
Oslo harbour. To support the fulfilment of this contract, Multiconsult has been
awarded a contract by Aker Solutions to provide agreed qualified personnel on a
hire-in basis for the detailed engineering of civil works. Multiconsult
personnel will work as an integral part of Aker Solutions' project team.
For Multiconsult the scope of work includes detailed design of civil works for
the project, including all necessary civil discipline input to the project,
study reports, cost estimates, risk registers, and interface coordination.
Multiconsult will have the main responsibility for the technical management and
interface coordination related to the civil works contracts of the outdoor area
and the technical building at Klemetsrud, as well as at onshore civil works at
the facility planned at Oslo harbour.
To support the architectural aspects of certain parts of the project,
Multiconsult will hire personnel from fully owned subsidiary, LINK Arkitektur
AS.
The total contract value for Multiconsult is around NOK 100 million, with
initial work set to commence during first quarter 2025. The project is planned
completed by 2029.
About the project: The waste-to-energy plant at Klemetsrud is the largest fossil
CO2 emitter in Oslo, responsible for 19 per cent of the capital's fossil CO2
emissions. The project will make use of SLB Capturi's modularised Just Catch 400
unit and when operational, the carbon capture plant is expected to capture 350
000 metric tonnes of CO2 annually. The project is an important milestone in the
development of a full-scale CO2 value chain in Norway, as part of the Norwegian
Government's Longship project.
