Gemalto is a world leader in digital security. The group offers integrated solutions from software application development to digital security device design and production (microchip cards, SIM cards, electronic passports, etc.) as well as deployment and management of services for its customers. Net sales by product family break down as follows:
- cards (99%): microprocessor cards (No. 1 worldwide), scratch cards, magnetic stripe and memory cards. The group also offers card-related software and services (consulting, personalization, training, etc.). Net sales break down by sector into mobile phone (49%), financial services and pay television (26.7%), identity and security (15.6%), and cellular communication between machines (8.7%);
- other (1%): solutions for public telephone.
At the end of 2011, the group had 28 personalization sites and 15 production sites worldwide.Net sales break down geographically as follows: Europe/Middle East/Africa (50.9%), Americas (29.2%) and Asia/Pacific (19.9%).
