Brookfield Asset Management Inc specializes in asset management, primarily in the real estate and energy sectors. Revenues break down by activity as follows:
- real estate property management (44.3%): managing EUR39.6 billion in real estate assets at the end of 2009, broken down by type of asset into commercial properties (57.1%) and other (15.8%). The remaining sales (27.1%) are from infrastructure improvement services;
- fund management (27.7%): pension funds, venture capital, investment funds, etc.;
- energy asset management (10%): operating 164 hydroelectric plants at the end of 2009 (total installed capacity of 4,198 MW), located primarily in North America;
- other (18%).
At the end of 2009, the group was managing assets with a total value of EUR75.6 billion.
Revenues are distributed geographically as follows: Canada (18.7%), the United States (47.8%) and other (33.5%).
