JCB names George Bamford as co-chair alongside father Anthony

Sept 27 (Reuters) - Construction equipment manufacturer JCB has appointed George Bamford as co-chair of the company alongside his father Anthony Bamford, the company said in a statement on Monday. 

• George Bamford, who also is the founder of Bamford Watch Department, has been JCB's deputy chair since the start of the year, according to his LinkedIn profile.

• The company, which makes tractors and excavators, has been chaired by Anthony Bamford since 1975.

• JCB is investing £100 million ($132.68 million) in its Staffordshire headquarters, while its $1 billion factory in San Antonio, Texas, is due to open next month.

• In August, JCB Hydromax set the world land speed record of 406.320mph/653.909kph for a hydrogen-powered vehicle. The company has invested £100 million in hydrogen engine technology.

• JCB employs around 20,000 people on four continents, according to the company.
