Italian unions reach deal with Kering on McQueen layoffs
ROME, June 4 (Reuters) - Italian unions said on Thursday they had reached an agreement with Kering to prevent unilateral layoffs at Alexander McQueen's Italian production sites, easing a dispute over planned job cuts at the British luxury label.
• Under the agreement, any termination of employment will be voluntary and incentivised, the Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl and Uiltec Uil trade unions said.
• Alexander McQueen workers have voted unanimously in favour of the agreement, they added.
• On May 20, unions called a strike across the French luxury group's Italian operations to protest against what they said was a lack of clarity over Kering's strategy and 54 planned job cuts at Alexander McQueen.
• Earlier this week, Kering appointed former Prada brand CEO Gianfranco D'Attis as Chief Executive of the struggling brand.
