MILAN, June 7 (Reuters) - Banco BPM has invited Monte dei Paschi di Siena to talks at a time when also Intesa Sanpaolo and Unipol-backed BPER have been weighing potential moves on the Tuscan bank, four people familiar with the matter said on Sunday.

Intesa, which acquired UBI in 2020 to become Italy's biggest bank faces antitrust limits to further expansion in the country. Two of the sources said Intesa's potential interest would not be for the whole of MPS.

Intesa declined to comment. BPER was not immediately available to comment.
