Background

Euronext would like to consult on proposed changes to the methodology of the ISEQ Index Family. To better reflect the market structure of Euronext Dublin it is proposed to amend the methodology of the Index Family with respect to the Index Universe.

Changes related to the index universe

It is proposed to update the Index Universe definition and remove the incorporation and Centre of economic interest requirements.

Current Rule:
The universe of the index is defined as companies that have been admitted to listing on the Euronext Dublin markets (Main securities market and Enterprise securities market) that has:

  1. Euronext Dublin as its market of reference; and
  2. Incorporated in the Republic of Ireland; or
  3. Incorporated in Northern Ireland; or
  4. Have its centre of economic interest in Ireland.

Companies that have been a constituent for more than two years in one of the ISEQ indices, whose businesses have developed so that their centre of economic interest could be deemed to be outside Ireland will remain eligible for inclusion to the ISEQ family.

Proposed new rule:
The universe of the index is defined as companies that have been admitted to listing on the Euronext Dublin markets that have Euronext Dublin and Euronext Growth Market (MIC codes XMSM and XESM) as their market of reference.

Timeline of changes and implementation

Stakeholders will have until the 2nd of February 2026 to react to the consultation. The new rules, if validated by Index Design and the Independent Supervisor of the Index, will be implemented as of the March 2026 Review of the Index Family.
