Oct 14 (Reuters) - The European Commission said on Wednesday it would not oppose a deal under which Italy's state-backed defence group Leonardo would acquire Iveco's defence unit.

• Italy's Iveco and Leonardo announced the €1.7 billion ($1.89 billion) deal at the end of July 2025

• The sale of the defence business paved the way for an all-cash tender offer for Iveco's remaining business by India's Tata Motors

• The EU Commission said the deal was compatible with the internal market and with the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement($1 = 0.8992 euros)
