4 million passengers traveled to, from, and over Avinor's airports in November.
This is an increase of 5 percent compared to November 2023. So far this year,
the increase is also 5 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
The number of international travelers continues to grow the most, with a 12
percent increase in November. So far this year, the growth among international
travelers is a full 9 percent.
-The growth among domestic travelers is 2 percent in November and 2 percent so
far this year. The passenger numbers in November are marked by 12 percent
increase in international travel. At the same time, the growth in domestic
travel is exclusively driven by international connecting flights. The domestic
market itself is slightly down compared to November last year (-1%). This is a
sign of the increasing interest in Norway as a travel destination and that
Norwegians continue to prioritize international travel at a time when many have
tighter personal finances, says Gaute Skallerud Riise, Vice President Traffic
Development at Avinor.
-The trend of fuller flights continues. November is the month with the strongest
growth in load factor so far this year, with a full 3.5 percentage points
increase from the same month last year. This is a trend that has been ongoing
for many years and has been significantly strengthened in the last two years.
The trend is positive both for the utilization of infrastructure and from an
emissions perspective.
Flight movements
There were 49,824 commercial flight movements in November. This is 2 percent
fewer than in November last year. So far this year, there are 1 percent fewer
flight movements compared to the same period in 2023.
Drone flights increase
In November, 1,724 drone flights were reported in Ninox Drone. –This is an
increase of 25 percent compared to November 2023, says Mats Gjertsen, who leads
Avinor's drone program. - Even with more weather and cold periods affecting
drone flights, these are high numbers that confirm the trend of increased drone
use in Norway. This year, there have been more than 23,000 flights in total,
compared to 14,000 flights last year. This is an increase of 63 percent.
