HØNEFOSS, NORWAY – March 2, 2023 – Norsk Titanium AS (Euronext: NTI, OTCQX:
NORSF), a global leader in Directed Energy Deposition (DED) additive
manufacturing for aerospace-grade structural titanium components, demonstrates
their Rapid Plasma Deposition® (RPD®) process applicability to the
multi-billion-dollar aerospace repair market.
Under a contracted effort from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG), Norsk
Titanium has adapted their RPD® additive process to the re-manufacture of link
tubes originally produced using a Ti 6-4 laser powder bed additive process.

In a rapid six-week timeline, Norsk Titanium developed a proprietary adaptation
of their RPD® process that located the affected link tube surfaces and made the
precision depositions. The link tubes were then sent to KONGSBERG for final
processing.

“This is an important step in our technology development plan. This effort
establishes that the RPD® process can support repairs for applications such as
turbine fan blades and offshore drilling refurbishment,” said Odd Terje Lium
Norsk Titanium VP of Engineering. “With this effort, we have proven that our
RPD® can be applied to component repairs, allowing our customers to reuse or
repair existing parts, avoiding the cost and schedule of a new production run.”

Proof of concept articles were produced by Norsk Titanium and delivered to
KONGSBERG as prototypes in December 2022. KONGSBERG then evaluated the adapted
RPD® process and approved it for implementation on 250 production parts. Norsk
Titanium is currently performing the re-manufacture operations with all parts to
be delivered back to KONGSBERG by the end of Q1-2023.
