Air France-KLM sees jet fuel supplies lasting through summer, CEO says
June 3 (Reuters) - Air France-KLM expects jet fuel supplies to be sufficient through July and August to operate its summer schedules, CEO Benjamin Smith said on Wednesday, as the airline group launched a promotional campaign to boost international travel.
Jet fuel has been one of the commodities most acutely affected by the Iran war and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, although airlines have largely dismissed initial fears of imminent shortages.
• "We constantly monitor fuel availability at the airports we serve," Smith said in a statement
• Air France, KLM and Transavia will be able to operate their summer flight schedules
• On Wednesday, the group will start selling tickets that can be changed free of charge for routes from France and the Netherlands to international destinations such as New York, Montréal, Bangkok and Marrakesh
• Air France will also double mile rewards for some long-haul flights in economy class booked during the campaign
• Since the start of the Iran war, international travel has slowed, with tourists across Europe and beyond booking later and often choosing destinations closer to home
