ESG ACHIEVEMENTS AND GOALS

Sustainability

Dalata is committed to building an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable business.

We have set ambitious short-term targets to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions per room sold by 20% by 2026 (2019 baseline). We also aim to reduce food waste per sleeper by 15% within the same timeframe.

We aspire to commit to Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) building sector guidance, subject to receipt and form of final guidance. This guidance is due for publication this year, but despite this we have begun to align our emission targets with 1.5°C global warming trajectory and have identified a pathway to deliver on SBTi near term targets.

Investing in people has always been a fundamental priority for Dalata. The well-established Dalata Academy is at the centre of this investment, and it also includes promoting inclusion and diversity, employee wellness, good labour practices and the health, safety and security of our employees and guests.

A third area of focus is on contributing positively to the communities in which we operate.

Recent Achievements

We are on track to exceed our short-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of 20%, having achieved a 27% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions per room sold during 2023 against 2019.

We were awarded with the prestigious 'Investors in Diversity' Silver award, an award given by the Irish Centre for Diversity and the National Centre for Diversity in the UK. Dalata Hotel Group is the only hotel group accredited with the silver mark in both Ireland and the UK.

In 2023, all of our hotels in Ireland and the United Kingdom received the Green Tourism Gold award, which recognises our strong commitment to operating a sustainable and responsible business.
